However, this camshaft will also work well with rectangle port dual plane intake manifolds. The Junkyard Dog “Single Plane” Rectangle Port cam is an aggressive and powerful camshaft created for aggressive street performance and street-strip applications where a carburetor or single plane intake manifold is used with rectangle port heads. This camshaft is an excellent choice for enthusiasts who want to hotrod or race a stock short block. This camshaft is designed to get maximum performance out of a single plane equipped 6.0 to 6.2 liter stock short block while still maintaining acceptable valve clearance without fly-cutting the pistons in rectangle port engines. However, it is still the owner’s/engine builder’s responsibility to verify sufficient clearance during installation. Also, milling of the heads, installing thinner head gaskets or installing larger diameter valves will reduce your piston to valve clearance. This camshaft is designed to be used for vehicles equipped with headers, high flow exhaust, increased stall speed torque converter and increased rear axle ratios.
